Ms. Sandra Lynn Dunsmore, iPEC Certified, Leadership and Transition Coach

In order for human beings to succeed in transforming the world, I believe we must also be intent on transforming ourselves. And that is why I became a coach!

Given the complex problems facing humanity today, now more than ever we need to be creative and innovative. Something that I understand only too well from personal experience is that highly stressed people are neither creative nor innovative. After 25 years of senior leadership experience in the areas of conflict transformation, peacebuilding, and organizational culture change, I decided to become a coach. I made this decision out of a desire to support others in developing physiological and emotional resilience, and therefore their ability to function more effectively at whatever they choose to do in life.

I support individuals and groups committed to being a positive force for change – within their families, local communities or the broader world, and who are ready to commit to developing the skills they need to live more fulfilling and productive lives. Some of my coaching clients come to me because they want support facing difficult choices or decisions. Others are seeking to increase their ability to meet current challenges more effectively. One thing all my clients have in common is that they are ready to make some space in their life to focus on their own growth.

Each client is unique, and therefore so is every coaching process. I partner with a client to design what works best for them. It is the client’s agenda, not mine, that guides the sessions. I am committed to supporting my clients to maximize their personal and professional potential.

My approach to coaching, informed by research in the neurosciences and guided by polyvagal theory, is firmly rooted in understanding the mind and body as one integrated system. Understanding how our physiology establishes and reinforces patterns of unconscious reaction, opens up the possibility of making more conscious and creative choices about how we respond to situations. Learning to embody this approach was a game changer for me, as it has been for many of my clients.
