I’m a life coach and physician and I use specialized coaching skills help professionals find their “why”. Because once you’ve got that, you’ve got everything.I’m a family medicine physician and life coach, and I’ve been a busy outpatient family physician for 18 years with a large hospital-owned practice. My panel was large, the pressures were high, and I often went to work feeling behind before I started. I was tired, but I I made sure it looked like I had it all together—managing patients, leadership demands, and being a wife and mom holding down the home fort.
But inside I was thinking, “I have it all. Why do I feel so empty? There has got to be more”.
A friend recommended a coach to me. I hired her and I discovered the VERY uncomfortable truth that we make our own reality. While it was true that the system was broken, that didn’t mean I was. It was up to me to figure out the “empty”, rather than blame the system.
Working with my coach gave me the courage to really investigate what was missing. She asked the tough questions, and gave me acceptance and encouragement, and shared her imagination so I could figure things out.
And, I discovered the part of medicine I loved the most was empowering patients to make crucial changes, and medicine alone didn’t quite get there.
THAT’S what was missing–helping others to see things differently, so THEY were empowered to change what needed to be changed. I wanted more of that, so I became certified as a life coach to teach others those life-changing skills.
Helping people to see things differently, to partner with them to help them make a leap they’ve been afraid to make, to stand with them to feel fear but choose differently–that’s what I do best as a partner and coach, and I truly love sharing this gift.
It’s my biggest joy to alleviate the suffering that follows from losing your way by helping you live your “why”, and coaching is the “power” tool for doing just that.
